Learn more about the Musée des Beaux Arts in this post!

My favorite paintings were those by the Impressionists, as I love the play of light and color on the canvas. The Lyon Museum of Fine Arts has lovely works by Degas, Monet, and Pissarro that I enjoyed.

The museum has a large sculpture collection as well. Part of the collection is located in the courtyard in the center of the museum.

The courtyard is the former abbey’s cloister and is now a lovely garden (it’s free to enter the garden). Sharing a quiet moment with your sweetie here is one of the most romantic things to do in Lyon!

(Love Rodin? Don’t miss the Rodin Museum, one of the top attractions in Paris and one of its best museums. The sculpture garden is my favorite.)

As you head downstairs, you’ll pass by sculptures representing the Rhône and Saône (the Rhône River is considered male and the Saône is considered female).
